Premier Teachers is working in partnership with a STEAM charity who are looking for Science, Computing, Engineering, Graphic Design and Maths Teachers who can commit to helping to deliver a fun and rewarding curriculum. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics and remains the cornerstone of industry in the UK.

Their core aim is to expose young people to STEAMexperiences, through exciting activities both inside and outside of the classroom.

They run school programmes aimed at underrepresented groups within the STEAM sector over Easter, the Summer holidays and the first week of Christmas. They provide exciting activities through school STEAM days, holiday STEAM camps and STEAM Enterprise events. Examples would be making rockets or drones or doing coding work and robotics or 3D prints.

The pay is at teacher rates agreed with each teacher based on experience, and we need staff who can work 9am to 3pm during the school holidays (with lunch being provided) over the following dates and at least commit to two weeks of the summer holidays if that is all the dates you can do. The dates the club runs are:

· The first Tuesday after Easter for 4 days (19th – 22nd April 2022)

· The 25th of July to August 5th (two weeks) and then, if possible, August 15th to August 2nd 2022.

· Christmas holidays – the first 3 days of the break

All clubs are run in schools in the following locations and you can just choose one:

· Peterlee

· Chester Le Street

· Newton Aycliffe

· Wallsend

Purpose of the role:

· To deliver exciting school holiday activities, as organised and decided by STEAM Ahead Education, enhancing the reputation of Science and Technology within schools and other educational establishments.

· To supervise and lead holiday activities (and those during term time, with support of school staff), supporting engagement in workshops, presentations and other relevant activities.

· Address minor behavioural issues, as required, ensuring that all young people are safeguarded at all times.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To be a competent and professional representative of the company in all dealings with stakeholders.
  • To maintain a welcoming atmosphere for participants.
  • To deliver activities within an educational setting during school holidays
  • To support and involve in summer schools in a variety of roles, including supervision of groups of under 18s
